We seek volunteers who love music, are passionate about engaging with KEXP’s mission and vision, and are excited to support our day-to-day operations, as well as special projects and events. KEXP volunteers join a specific team and get a unique experience to explore interests, develop skills and build community.
KEXP offers volunteer positions in person in Seattle and the Bay Area, as well as remote online opportunities. Each volunteer team follows either a weekly or pick up shift format. Most Seattle opportunities are at KEXP’s Headquarters, while Bay Area opportunities are “around town” at different locations. Remote online opportunities can be done from anywhere, as long as you have a reliable computer and stable internet connection.

Currently, KEXP’s volunteer openings are competitive because there are more people who want to volunteer than we have opportunities for. It may take you a bit to get started, and we appreciate your patience.
After your application is accepted, you will receive onboarding communications from the Volunteer Engagement Team. Depending on the team you join, you may also need to attend an orientation and/or receive one-on-one training.
Depending on the team you join, you can volunteer for a few hours a month or a few hours a week. For regularly occurring positions, we encourage volunteers to complete no more than one shift per week. However, due to shift coverage, sometimes volunteers may complete two or three shifts in a week. Create a Shiftboard account to learn more about the volunteer teams at KEXP!
KEXP’s Volunteer Program is not a pipeline to employment at KEXP.
KEXP receives 20-40 applications for each volunteer opening we post. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer volunteer positions to everyone that applies, but please know that we keep your application in mind for any relevant opportunities that may come up in the future.

As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, KEXP is eligible for many employers’ volunteer hour matching programs. Check out your workplace intranet or contact your HR department for information on submitting your volunteer hours for a match.
KEXP does not currently have opportunities for corporate volunteer groups.
