KEXP's weekly guest DJ mix show is a multi-genre program featuring eclectic sets by a rotating cast of local, national, and international DJs and artists. Every late Sunday night at midnight, a guest DJ outside of KEXP's on-air talent will take you on an hour-long journey through their record collection to showcase their unique sonic vision of a Midnight In A Perfect World.

Apparat is the solo alias of Sascha Ring, a veteran Berlin-based musician and one-third of Moderat alongside the duo Modeselektor. With a deep catalog of cutting-edge electronic music that spans back to the early 2000s, Apparat's music fluctuates between delicate and propulsive, yet always with a precise and intricate touch. His sixth album as Apparat, titled A Hum of Maybe, was just released on February 20th on Mute Records.
Kennebec is the solo alias of Portland-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Eric Phillips. His music explores a lush, beautiful, cinematic blend of downtempo, soul, ambient, neo-classical, hip-hop, and jazz. Late last year he released his wonderful third full-length album 'The Water Wheel' that paired his gorgeous arrangements full of strings, woodwinds, harp, trumpet, and more, with guest appearances from Portland-based neo-soul singer Aléa Lorén, Charlotte, NC-based rapper MESSIAH!, British-Bahraini trumpeter/composer Yazz Ahmed, and LA-based composer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.
Neon Ion is the solo project of Norwegian artist Natalie Sandtorv, a multifaceted artist who's also a member of the recently launched trio Orbits alongside Jaga Jazzist's Lars Horntveth and producer Erlend Mokkelbost. Her brilliant third full-length album Laugh Now, Cry Later arrived on January 30th and its thrilling blend of R&B, jazz, psych, and pop has yielded one of the surprise breakout albums of the year.
Jonathan Zwickel lives and writes Seattle. For the last 20+ years, his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Seattle Times, SPIN, Rolling Stone, the Stranger, the Believer, and other publications (support local journalism!). He's the creator of Let the Kids Dance, an NPR podcast about Seattle's infamous Teen Dance Ordinance, and author of Beastie Boys: A Musical Biography, published by Greenwood Press.
Lucha Luna is a new Seattle duo composed of Eva Vazquez (Toxic Tears, Savi) and Thomas Arndt (Day Soul Exquisite, Another Magic) who have quickly emerged on the local scene with a captivating sound that fuses reggaeton, punk, and cumbia styles in propulsive, cathartic, magnetic fashion. Their debut album BRILLA BRILLA was released independently on January 16th and it's been a standout Pacific Northwest offering on KEXP's airwaves in the new year.
