KEXP's mission is grounded in music discovery and serving our local and global community. The best moments are when we can do it all at the same time. Such is the case with Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio. The Seattle-based group have been making astounding music in the local scene since 2015. In 2017, they stopped by KEXP's live broadcast from the Upstream Music Festival and changed the trajectory of their career. KEXP's video crew caught tape of the band warming up before their proper set and amazingly the video skyrocketed on YouTube to 11 million views.
That warm-up set was a turning point for the band. The station and DLO3 have maintained a close relationship – even issuing a record together of the performance. In the video below, hear Delvon Lamarr himself and guitarist Jimmy James reflect on their musical journey, what KEXP has meant to them, the astounding prowess of Sharon Jones, and more.
Special thanks to Wild Gravity for producing this video. Stay tuned for video artist testimonies about KEXP and more coming soon.
