Feedback: Jana Cushman of Darkswoon

Welcome to the latest edition of Feedback, a look (down) at the pedal boards and equipment of some of our favorite musicians. Today, KEXP's Owen Murphy chats with Jana Cushman, founder of Portland-based electronic shoegaze band Darkswoon.

Darkswoon play this Sunday night as part of the Seagaze Festival, a four-day shoegaze, post-punk, and psych-rock extravaganza held on April 18–19 & April 24–28 at the Lo-Fi Performance Gallery. I'm sharing with you a picture of my guitar.  It's an Eastwood Airline '59 2P.  Eastwood Guitars have been taking funky vintage guitar models and rebuilding them into more playable instruments for years now.  The original line of Airline guitars were built by VALCO and sold by Montgomery Ward.  I've played a few of the originals and although they have the history and soul, their general playability isn't great in my experience.  But they look so cool!  I was really excited to find that the remake of the Airline by Eastwood has great intonation and functions much more consistently that the original models.  I've had a few modifications that make it mine including a set up for lower tunings (most Darkswoon songs are in CGDFGD).  It's really the most colorful accessory I own!
