Indie pop fresco y… navideño! Eso es lo que nos trae la nueva canción de la banda española Cariño que va camino a liderar la escena de ese país junto a bandas ya recomendadas aquí como, Carolina Durante. “X Navidad” es un single que lanza una llamada de amor en épocas festivas bajo la escudería de Sonido Muchacho, uno de los sellos con más proyección de España. El trío de chicas de Madrid se autodenomina representantes del “tontipop”, un sonido característico devenido del Indie Pop que tuvo su auge en los noventa. Recomendamos su álbum de 2018 Movidas.
Este es otro regalo musical de navidad que llega de la mano del co fundador y bajista de Chicano Batman, Eduardo Arenas, y que fue lanzado forma exclusiva para el sitio amigo REMEZCLA. “El Perdón” es el nuevo sencillo del proyecto musical É Arenas que nos anima, bajo el ritmo de cumbia, a reconocer errores propios y perdonar a ese ser querido que veremos en nuestra cena de Navidad.

Tuvimos a Flor de Toloache en nuestros estudios de Seattle durante el 2019 donde grabaron una inolvidable sesión. Antes de terminar el año, la agrupación mariachi lanza el nuevo video musical de su versión "reggae-achi" de “Quisiera”, del reconocido artista dominicano Juan Luis Guerra junto a la participación del cantautor John Legend. Flor de Toloache fue la primera agrupación mariachi conformada íntegramente por mujeres, rompiendo todos los parámetros establecidos hasta el momento y acumulando público alrededor del mundo. El grupo neoyorquino recibió una nominación a los Premios Grammy 2020 en la categoría Mejor Álbum de Rock Latino, Urbano o Alternativo por su placa Indestructible.

Elegiremos al dúo de música afroperuana conformado por Felipe Salmón y Rafael Pereira para nuestro puente de la semana. Dengue Dengue Dengue ha lanzado su tercer álbum en 2019 llamado Zenit & Nadir y viene a representar el resultado de trances musicales propios del género con exploraciones electrónicas introspectivas. En “Decajón” podemos probar un poco de la rica herencia musical de los descendientes de los antiguos esclavos africanos en Perú, objeto de estudio e inspiración para este nuevo álbum.
La canción de Helado Negro, “November 7”, forma parte del aclamado álbum This is How your Smile que sin dudas es uno de los discos del 2019. Hace algunas semanas Roberto Carlos Lange, el artista estadounidense de raíces ecuatorianas, lanzó el videoclip de esta pieza instrumental collage que se encuentra en la novena posición de esta placa. Según en declaraciones a Pitchfork, November 7 está inspirado en la artista visual On Kawara.

Fresh indie pop and... Christmas! That is what we get with the new song from the Spanish band Cariño. Cariño is on the way to leading the scene there with bands we’ve already recommended here like, Carolina Durante. "X Navidad" is a single that launches a call of love in festive times from the Sonido Muchacho team, one of the best labels in Spain. The trio of ladies from Madrid calls themselves representatives of the "tontipop," a characteristic sound that became the indie pop sound that had its peak in the nineties. We recommend their album Movidas (2018).
This is another musical Christmas gift that comes from the co-founder and bassist of Chicano Batman, Eduardo Arenas, and was launched exclusively on our friends Remezcla’s website. “El Perdón” is the new single from the É Arenas project that encourages us, under the rhythm of cumbia, to recognize our own mistakes and forgive that loved one that we will see at our Christmas dinner.

We had Flor de Toloache in our Seattle studios during 2019 where they recorded an unforgettable session. Before the end of the year, the Mariachi group launched the new music video of their "reggae-achi" version of "Quisiera" from the renowned Dominican artist Juan Luis Guerra with participation from singer-songwriter John Legend. Flor de Toloache was the first New York City mariachi group formed entirely by women, breaking all the parameters established so far and accumulating fans around the world. The group received a 2020 Grammy Award nomination in the Best Latin, Urban or Alternative Rock Album category for their LP Indestructible.

We will choose the Afro-Peruvian music duo of Felipe Salmón and Rafael Pereira for our bridge of the week. Dengue Dengue Dengue released their third album in 2019, Zenit & Nadir, and have come to represent the result of musical trances of the genre with introspective electronic explorations. In “Decajón” we can prove some of the rich musical heritage of the descendants of former African slaves in Peru, object of study and inspiration for this new album.
The song "November 7" is part of the acclaimed album This is How You Smile, which is undoubtedly one of the best albums of 2019. A few weeks ago Roberto Carlos Lange, the U.S. based artist with Ecuadorian roots, released the video clip of this instrumental collage piece that is in the ninth song on the album. According to his statements to Pitchfork, “November 7” is inspired by the visual artist On Kawara.
