Michelle Zauner has spent the last year reaping the benefits of the success of her 2017 sophomore album under the moniker Japanese Breakfast, Soft sounds from Another Planet. Today, a new essay posted in The New Yorker proves her skills don’t solely lie in music. Titled “Crying In H Mart,” the essay tackles Zauner’s grief over the loss of her mother to cancer while exploring her identity and relationship with Korean food.
