Experimental electronic producer Tim Hecker has announced a new record titled Konoyo, named after a Japanese word that translates to “the world over here.” The album was recorded primarily in Japan with Tokyo Gakuso, an ensemble that plays a style of Japanese classical music called gagaku. Lead single off the album, the nine-minute “This Life,” has also been shared. Konoyo is out September 28 via Kranky and is Hecker’s first full-length since 2016’s Love Streams. Last month, he reissued his first two albums: 2001’s Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again and 2003’s Radio Amor. Listen to “This Life” below.
