  • Former Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto has shared her take on Tommy James & The Shondells' 1968 song "I'm Alive." Ditto said of the cover: "Being alive is radical right now. So let's live!" Ditto released her solo debut Fake Sugar last year. Catch Ditto at the Showbox on Thursday, March 29. [ SPIN ]
  • Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand are releasing their fifth studio album, Always Ascending, in early February. Last night they stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the title track off the album. They've previously shared the video for the song, as well as the single, "Feel the Love Go." Always Ascending is out February 9 via Domino and follows up 2013's Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action. [ Under the Radar ]
  • Today its been revealed that Icelandic band Sigur Rós are soundtracking music video director Jonas Åkerlund's new film Lords of Chaos. The film focuses on the Norwegian black metal scene and stars singer Sky Ferreira. Lords Of Chaos is based on the 1998 book of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind and reportedly tells the story of legendary black metal band Mayhem, whose guitarist Euronymous was murdered by Varg Vikernes of Burzum in 1993.   • Madrid indie band Hinds have announced the follow-up to their popular debut album Leave Me Alone entitled I Don't Run, slated for release this April. The quartet also shared a new song off the album, "New For You," accompanied by a video directed by Lucia Pardo that features the band playing a game of futból. I Don't Run is out April 6 via Mom + Pop. The band has also announced a tour that includes a stop in Seattle on Tuesday, May 22 at the Crocodile. [ Consequence of Sound ]
  • Philadelphia's (Sandy) Alex G, the pseudonym of Alex Giannascoli, has uploaded a new song to his YouTube channel titled "Fay." The typically lo-fi melancholic song follows last year's album Rocket. 2017 saw Alex G add the (Sandy) to his name, collaborate with Frank Ocean, and tour with Fleet Foxes so we're curious to see if 2018 has even bigger things in store for the prolific singer/songwriter.
