  • Björk's new "Tinder album" is on its way and we finally have a taste of what it might sound like with lead single "The Gate." The storyline of the song picks up where Vulnicura left off, with Björk healing from the heartbreak of the dissolution of her 13-year relationship. “My healed chest wound/Transformed into a gate,” she sings early in the song and later in the song proclaims, “Didn’t used to be so needy/Just more broken than normal.” Produced by Vulnicura collaborator Arca, the song is a somehow both very quiet and incredibly grand. We still don't have any details on the album title or the exact release date, all we know at this time is that it will be out in November on One Little Indian. [ Pitchfork ]
  • Australian electronic quartet Cut Copy are gearing up to release Haiku From Zero on September 22 via Astralwerks. Today they shared their third single, following "Airborne" and "Standing in the Middle of the Field," called "Black Rainbows." Frontman Dan Whitford said of Haiku From Zero, "So much of this album is about this mosaic of information, images that we're surrounded by on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes it feels like overload, but there's a weird random beauty in it. The idea of squeezing poetry form chaos was where the title of the album came from-the idea of finding something poetic in the overload." The full album is streaming on NPR right now. • Dev Hynes supplied a new Blood Orange single via Soundcloud this morning. Called “BOWERYLDN EDIT 6 15 SEPTEMBER,” the almost 5-minute track has a sparse beat that grows with the inclusion of sax, horn, and woodwind arrangements by Jason Arce. It's unknown whether this is from a forthcoming follow-up to 2016's Freetown Sound but it seems more likely that it's a one-off single. Only time will tell. [ SPIN ]
  • After 22 years, Boise's Built To Spill are leaving Warner Brothers Records to independently release their music themselves. Announced on their official Facebook page, the band wrote, “We are moving on from warner brothers records and we are now running www.builttospill.com ourselves. The newly designed website has links to videos and all our albums and coming soon all of the correct lyrics and a new merch store. Thanks to all the great folks at WBR that we have been lucky enough to work with over the years!” Catch Built To Spill when they play with Modest Mouse on Thursday, September 21 at the Washington State Fair.
