The annual Georgetown Carnival returns to its namesake neighborhood on June 10 and it's bringing along some Seattle staples. The free event boasts a lineup topped by grunge legends Mudhoney and influential Olympia punks Young Pioneers, as well as sets from the likes of Tom Price Desert Classic, Thee Sgt. Major III, Gibraltar, Selector Dub Narcotic, and numerous others.
But the music is just part of what makes the Georgetown Carnival so thrilling. Alongside the heavy riffs and DJ sets, you'll get to watch daring aerial feats from Sanca Acrobats and aerialist Deanna Riley, belly dancing by Sirens of Serpentine, and walk through a clown art exhibition as well as the J.P. Patches Museum. A favorite tradition of the carnival is the power tool drag races. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. This is an all day event open to the public. Take advantage of this opportunity to bring your whole family out to see some of the Northwest's most revered artists. Like any great carnival, there will be plenty of games and treats to indulge in.
