Festival Screenings: Thursday, June 8 at 7:00 PM - The Triple Door
During the last week of this year's Seattle International Film Festival, Austin band The Invincible Czars will perform an original soundtrack to the 1920 silent film classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which stars John Barrymore. Frequently cited as the first American horror film, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is presented as part of SIFF's ongoing special archival screenings, and will be accompanied by a live performance from the band. The Invisible Czars made a name for themselves in Austin, TX through performances of original scores written to accompany silent films at the legendary Alamo Drafthouse Theater. In the years since, the band has continued to add films to their live performance repertoire. The Invisible Czars's score for Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde shows a minimalist approach which echoes the film's explorations of the nature of man, and incorporates music from both Claude Debussy and Erik Satie. The elegant Triple Door venue should be the ideal location for this one-night only event.
