Every Saturday night, Audioasis host DJ Sharlese showcases exclusively local music on KEXP from 6-9 p.m. With the heartbreaking news of Chris Cornell's death comes a blow to the local music scene. It's something Sharlese knows well both as an expert on Seattle music and as a fan.

"I think the Seattle music community is so influenced by Soundgarden," she reflected in our Facebook Live video earlier today. "Myself, I graduated in 1996 and I just remember hearing so much Soundgarden on the radio... and really being influenced by Seattle music — not even realizing that I would be here today and this has happened and that I get to play so much Soundgarden on the radio this weekend. This is something that really, truly affects me personally. It's such a timestamp of my life."

As we continue to remember Cornell, we've asked Sharlese to share her favorite Soundgarden songs (with a bonus Temple of the Dog thrown in, too). Check them out below and share your favorite Cornell tracks in the comments.

"The one thing that I love the most is the video they made for the song. Reminds me of the best days of MTV."

2. Hands All Over

"Reminds me of Hannah Levin and her love for Soundgarden. She used to play this song on Audioasis and talk about it fondly. It’s something that truly reminds me of Audioasis and it’s host lineage."

3. Fell on Black Days

"This was one of Soundgarden’s slower songs and I thought it featured his voice in a really cool different way. A man of many talents."

4. Hunted Down

"I thought this song had the sexiest guitar and bass lines."

5. Spoonman

"Reminds me of when I would see Spoonman doing his thing at the Pike Place Market. A very Seattle thing."

6. Rusty Cage

"The most epic beginning of pure rock-n-roll excitement!"

7. Burden In My Hand

"I just think these lyrics are really powerful."

8. Blow Up The Outside World

"The vocal mic they use in this song is really cool and the lyrics too and the breakdown. Another epic amazing piece."

9. The Day I Tried To Live

"Love these Soundgarden slow jams with the pick-ups and more hot guitar and bass lines and perfect drums."

10. Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike

"The best video and band make up full of buds! Just a really great unforgettable song."
