Tomorrow, Friday, October 6th, Rhino Records are releasing The Replacements For Sale: Live At Maxwell’s 1986, a two-disc set capturing The Replacements at their mid-career best. Last month, KEXP premiered the live version of "Takin’ A Ride," and today, we share the band's ramshackle take on "Color Me Impressed." Tune in today to The Afternoon Show on KEXP and hear DJ Kevin Cole premiere the track!
The Replacements For Sale: Live At Maxwell’s 1986 features 29 tracks recorded on a 24-track mobile studio. It is also one of the last live recordings of the band with their original line-up: Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bassist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars. (Bob left the band by the end of '86.) As author Bob Mehr writes in the liner notes: "Replacements for Sale finally offers high-fidelity proof of the peculiar alchemy and unadulterated majesty of one of rock and roll’s greatest bands."
