A great line-up for a great cause: on Friday, August 5th, the Fremont Abbey Arts Center hosts a benefit for Nepal Peace Home with Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver, Bryan John Appleby, and Shay Carlucci of Ghost Ship.
Nepal Peace Home is a non-profit based in Seattle with its eye on rural Sarlahi. The organization was founded in 2008 when social worker Saroj Khanal saw firsthand the consequences of civil war in Nepal. Many children were left without parents, or were in situations where their family couldn't afford to care for them. Nepal Peace Home was established as a reconciliation orphanage, housing 40 children who live, eat, play, and sleep there. Tonight's show has a specific goal for an immediate need: a sewage system.
Headlining the show is Jessica Dobson of Deep Sea Diver, who we last saw blowing people's minds at the KEXP New Home Grand Opening. Singer/songwriter Bryan John Appleby brings his sensitive folk-pop to the Fremont Abbey. And, Shay Carlucci will share songs from his debut solo EP, Matlby, out later this year.
You can find out more about Nepal Peace Home here, and members of the organization will be on site, selling Nepali handicrafts. Tickets are still available online here.
