Yet again, West Seattle emerged victorious in KEXP's annual neighborhood challenge. So, this Sunday, June 5th, we're packing up and heading across the bridge for the KEXP Hood-to-Hood Day Celebration!
Join us at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center from Noon to 6:00 PM for a live on-air broadcast with KEXP DJs Quilty 3000 and Stevie Zoom. There will be food trucks, a beer garden in collaboration with Redhook, and live music throughout the day. Get ready for sets from Toronto punk band Greys, Seattle surf-punk trio Acapulco Lips, and local MC Porter Ray. All these sets are FREE, all ages, and open to the public!Later that evening from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, the party will continue at Skylark Cafe with a Seattle rock showcase including Fine Prince, Detective Agency, and Dre’zy & Too Smoove. KEXP DJ (and West Seattle native) Troy Nelson will be your host for this all ages concert.
And Troy's gonna be busy, because after that he'll be spinning an after-party DJ set at Shadowland starting at 9:00 PM. Come dance, drink, and spend time with your fellow KEXP listeners!
You don't have to be a West Seattleite to partake in the fun, but watch out, 'cause they do get bragging rights. Wanna see your neighborhood get the all-star treatment next year? Be sure to step up during KEXP's One Day Drive on Friday, June 10th! But for now, see you in West Seattle!
