Song of the Gay: Thalia Zedek Band - All I Need

Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. All this week we are celebrating Seattle Pride and PrideFest 2016 by featuring all LGBTQ artists for our “Song of the Gay” podcast, selected by me, DJ El Toro. My pick for today is "All I Need" by Thalia Zedek Band from her forthcoming album, Eve, due August 16 on Thrill Jockey.

Even before she went in 2001 with Been Here And Gone, Thalia Zedek had already left an indelible mark on underground rock via her stints in Uzi, Live Skull, Come, and other projects; her all-female combo Dangerous Birds contributed “Smile on Your Face” to the essential 1986 Sub Pop 100 compilation.

“All I Need” is the first track shared from Zedek’s forthcoming album, Eve, due August 16 on Chicago’s Thrill Jockey label, and a stunning reminder of why the “out-and-proud lesbian” remains one of the most distinctive and moving singers around.

Thalia Zedek Band as only one future show listed - in Cambridge, MA on July 8th - but hopefully a tour will follow with the release of Eve.
