Gothenburg, Sweden, has been proving to be a haven for indie-pop music. Giving us bands like Makthaverskan and Westkust, today’s track of the day comes from emerging band The Sun Days. Just like their band name suggests, The Sun Days is helping take summer by storm. “You Don’t Need To Be Them” gallops through the air with sweeping guitars and melodies that create a picturesque sound for the season. Lead singer Elsa Holmgren’s vocals blast through the song in pristine clarity, growing in intensity until the chorus breaks out as she reiterates the importance of individualism. “Everything is yours and your own,” she promises just before the semi-breakdown of the tune, stripping it down to a slower drum line and guitar riff, until the chorus comes back in its bright, sweet ferocity. “You Don’t Need To Be Them” is the first track off of their tongue in cheek titled debut record, Album, released earlier this year on Run for Cover Records, graciously giving us seven other summer-ready tracks.

Although there aren’t any plans for an appearance in the States as of this moment, if you happen to be in the U.K. this July, you can catch a glimpse of this Swedish five piece as they’re on tour along with Basement and Dinosaur Pile Up.
