  • From Rihanna to Springsteen to LCD Soundsystem to Smashing Pumpkins to -- well, you get the idea -- everyone paid tribute to music legend Prince over the weekend. One of the more poignant performances came from fellow Minneapolis musician Bob Mould, who took the stage with reunited Twin Cities punks Suicide Commandos at the legendary First Avenue club (former home to KEXP's own DJ Kevin Cole). Watch their passionate performance of "When You Were Mine," featuring Mould's tour manager on guest vocals. [Stereogum]

  • In other tribute news, Mac DeMarco and his touring keyboardist Jon Lent took to video for a cover of "I Was A Fool to Care" by the still-alive '70s singer/songwriter James Taylor. In the clip, a guy in a gimp mask wanders the wilderness with a picture of Taylor in his hands. Aww? Watch below: [Pitchfork]

  • As if the 2017 Twin Peaks reboot wasn't exciting enough, today, some of the guest cast members were announced, including Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, and Sharon Van Etten, to name a few. Director David Lynch has a history of tapping into the music world for actors: past visitors to Twin Peaks include the late David Bowie, crooner Chris Isaak, and resident chanteuse Julee Cruise. Twin Peaks returns to television sets next year via Showtime. [Pitchfork]

  • Former Seattle-ites, current Charleston, South Carolina-based rockers Band of Horses return this summer with their fifth studio album Why Are You OK, produced by Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, which is an excellent combination in our opinion. Check out a karaoke-inspired lyric video for the track "Casual Party" below to hear their powers combined. Why Are You OK hits stores in June via Interscope and American Recordings.
