Sure, we just moved in, but could the KEXP New Home be... haunted? Come find out on Monday, October 31st as we present our very first Halloween Open House in Seattle Center! We'll have plenty of treats from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the Gathering Space. Come make creepy crafts, and commemorate your costume with a photo in our Photo Booth! We'll have giveaways, and our neighbors at La Marzocco Café will have a drink special for the day. And on the air, DJs John Richards, Cheryl Waters, and Kevin Cole will be spinning songs for the occasion. We'll also have station tours happening all day long, in shifts at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. Send an email to tours@kexp.org to RSVP.
Something that's truly scary is the fact that every night in Seattle, nearly 1,000 young people are homeless. Sometimes they're running from abusive homes, or cast out by unaccepting family for coming out as LGBTQ. Local non-profit Youthcare provides outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training. What we can provide is items for the Winter Survival Essentials drive. Items you can bring include:
New underwear and boxersNew socksHooded sweatshirtsRain-proof jacketsGloves and Hot Hands hand warmersFirst Aid supplies (such as Ace bandages, etc.)Hygiene supplies (travel-size deodorant, etc.)BackpacksGift cards (Target, Fred Meyer, Amazon.com, etc.)
Or check out Youthcare's Amazon wishlist if you'd like to donate that way.
