KEXP is proud to once again be a part of the annual Taste of Iceland cultural extravaganza, and we're kicking things off this Friday, October 14th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM with a special literary event in our Gathering Space.
Renowned Icelandic literary critic and writer Gudmundur Andri Thorsson will be our special guest, presenting the lecture “Paper Vikings: Past and Present,” followed by a lively Q&A panel hosted by The Elliott Bay Book Company and Seattle City of Literature. Writers Örnólfur Thorsson and Gísli Sigurðsson will share pieces of their extensive work covering medieval literature and history, ending with an engaging panel discussion on the Icelandic sagas and Norse mythology. Following the panel discussion, the audience will be treated to live “Rímur” performances by Fufanu and JFDR. (In Icelandic literature, a ríma is an epic poem written in any of the so-called rímnahættir.) KEXP’s photographic exhibit, Sound & Vision II: Iceland Calling, will round out the exploration of Icelandic arts.
Don't miss this unique evening will blend literature, history, and music. This event is free, all ages, and open to all.
