This week in El Sonido we’ve got some rock and roll and some electronic styles to share - taking us from Spain to Puerto Rico, Los Angeles to planet Klajnak.
Kicking it off is AJ Dávila y Terror Amor with an exclusive live KEXP performance that they recorded in October of 2014. There’s drinking, there’s swearing, and most importantly, there’s some straight up infectious garage from the self-titled LP and Beibi, both of which were released that year.
Moving on to Frikstailers whose new track "Woranait," featuring Argentine pop star Leo García, is probably their most soulful and catchy output to date though it still has that signature driving laser beat that we’ve come to love. The duo, originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Mexico City, stopped by KEXP to perform live in 2010. (well, Rafa did. Lisandro was sick for that tour) I’m pretty sure that’s the only time an artist has incorporated a dance dance revolution pad in one of our live sets, for real.
Another anticipated LP on the way is Salve Discordia, the 4th by Spain’s Triángulo de Amor Bizarro. Their thick post-punk intergaláctico has never disappointed, and though they promise this to be their most polished record to date it’s got more than plenty rough of edges based on the two tracks already available: "Desmadre Estigio" and "Gallo Negro Se Levanta."
Finishing things off let’s peek back at some of the best of 2015 with a great mix of tracks put together by the fine folks at Sounds and Colours.
Thanks for listening. See you next time.paz.

KEXP has been incredibly fortunate to return to Iceland these past six years, not only to discover new artists to share with our listeners, but also to witness the astounding growth of bands like Vök. When we first heard them in 2013, Vök had recently formed, starting as a duo and winning Músíktilr…
It's hard to lament The Strokes hiatus when their guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. keeps putting out such great solo releases. On his third full-length, Momentary Masters, he delves into an unintentional new wave inspiration ("I don't really know how to put it into categories," he tells DJ Troy Nelson…
“We carry it now as a badge of honor,” says Miguel Ramirez, percussionist of Los Angeles group La Santa Cecilia, “to say that we are immigrants or children of immigrants.” After the band had stopped by KEXP a few months earlier to perform live I reached out over the phone so we could talk a bit mor…
