KEXP is excited to present another special all-electronic edition of Audioasis this Saturday, September 5th! This weekend's show is a celebration of this year's upcoming Decibel Festival that will be held all across the city of Seattle from Wednesday, September 23rd through Wednesday, September 27th. Hosted by DJ Alex and co-produced with the help and guidance of Audioasis host DJ Sharlese, the show will feature live performances from Seattle-based electronic musician Raica at 6:30 PM PT and Portland-based electronic musician Strategy at 8:00 PM. Seattle's Chloe Harris has been making waves in the local and worldwide electronic music community for over a decade now as a DJ, a musician, and also as the co-founder of the highly-respected experimental label Further Records. The beginning of her music career found her touring the world as an in-demand DJ before shifting her focus towards production. While early releases under her own name explored the outer fringes of techno and house, her recent output under the alias Raica finds Harris tackling more abstract and leftfield territory that's unburdened by genre specifics. Raica will be performing as part of the dB 2015 Optical Kick-Off Party at Re-Bar on Wednesday September 23rd alongside Atlanta's Richard Devine and Seattle's Kid Smpl.
Portland's Strategy (aka Paul Dickow) is also a veteran of the Pacific Northwest electronic music community, emerging with his debut in 2003 and proceeding to release a plethora of albums and EPs on labels such as Kranky, Orac, 100% Silk, and Chloe Harris' own Further Records. A consistently cerebral and chameleonic artist, his releases have spanned a wide range of the electronic music spectrum, covering everything from infectious timeless house jams for the dancefloor to blissed-out experimental ambient compositions primed for the headphones. In addition to his own productions, Paul finds time to run the boutique label Community Library Records. Strategy will be performing at Decibel Festival as part of the Viscerality Optical Showcase at The Triple Door on Sunday September 27th with San Francisco's Eskmo and Seattle's Briana Marela.
DJ Alex will be sharing the best of Pacific Northwest electronic music throughout the remainder of the show, spotlighting both established artists and budding newcomers. Tune in to discover the vibrant and fertile talent pool of electronic musicians that currently call the Pacific Northwest their home!
