Having played a benefit at the Tractor Tavern for KEXP's New Home campaign earlier this year, Noah Gundersen returns to KEXP play his beautifully melancholy songs for us in-studio and live streamed the entire performance online. The 26-year-old singer/songwriter, originally from Olympia, Washington, has gained quite a passionate fan following in recent years, especially with his 2014 gripping full-length debut, Ledges. Now with his new LP, Carry The Ghost, released just this past August from Dualtone Records, we treated to a whole new session. In the KEXP Live Room, Gundersen's voice, raw and rough around the edges, easily commands and, paired with his signature crafted, his provocative lyrics seem to evoke more existential themes this time round. Without a doubt, Gundersen unapologetically wears his heart on his sleeve, and his songs, as we've heard from the beginning, still ooze a sense of pure, unadulterated emotion and vulnerability. Gundersen will be touring the country over the next few months with a band that features his siblings Abby and Jonathan, but for now they're all right at home in the KEXP studio. Watch the entire performance, live on the Morning Show, now:
We caught up with Gundersen to learn more about his Record Store Day release, performing in the live room, and which records he's looking out for this Saturday. Oh, and there might be some mushrooms involved.
