June’s Community Partnership Benefit Show is on Saturday, June 6th at The Sunset. This month’s show is in support of Futurewise, a group that is working to promote healthy communities and cities while protecting farmland, forests, and shorelines today and for future generations. One could say that they are attempting to take the future of Washington’s growth into their caring hands and helping to shape it into something great!
This month’s benefit concert will showcase Seattle bands: Wimps, Bread & Butter, as well as Portland’s Jackson Boone! We had a little future fun ourselves with a "Cootie Catcher" interview! I was feeling inspired by Futurewise and their ability to think ahead and wanted to hear the band members’ thoughts on all things nature in the Pacific Northwest, music and how they see the future! Be sure to give their music a listen before you head out to the show this weekend! Read about Wimps, Bread & Butter, Jackson Boone, and see snippets from our super cool email-interview below!
Wimps:If you haven’t seen a Wimps show before, you are in for a treat! You’ll surely feel like dancing to their up-tempo, witty punk songs that are all about things us snack-motivated, basement-party-loving Seattle dwellers can relate to. When Wimps virtually sat down with me to complete their part of the Cootie Catcher, fortune-telling interview I had so much fun getting insight to what inspires them, their relationship with nature, and thoughts on development and changes within Seattle. Their video for "Repeat" makes me smile every time! Hope they play all the major hits!
Bread & Butter:Since I’ve yet to catch these hilarious rockers live, I’m definitely looking forward to catching Bread & Butter on Saturday! With catchy melodies, boppy lyrics and jangly style, their laid-back rock ‘n’ roll is something that you can listen to on any given day, and I’m interested to see how their completely goofy and self-assured personalities will come across during their performance on stage!
Jackson Boone:Jackson Boone hails from Oregon and plays some pretty magical indie rock. Drawn to his singer/songwriter style that comes across as psychedelic and dreamy, I quickly found that it can all be credited to JB’s sense of self and surroundings. Many of his songs are about animals and all things atmospheric or natural, so it made me curious to interview him about himself as well as about the concern that Futurewise has for preserving Washington’s natural and uninhabited land. Jackson Boone will be performing at The Sunset on Saturday, and I can’t wait to sway along to his dreamy set!
