KEXP presents the Seattle premiere of Nickolas Rossi's Elliott Smith documentary, Heaven Adores You at Northwest Film Forum, Friday, May 15, with an extended run by popular demand through May 26. Heaven Adores You follows the beloved musician's musical evolution, from punk rock to acoustic, and the trajectory of his career, alongside his voyage from Portland, to New York City, to Los Angeles. The film is narrated by Smith's friends and fellow musicians, along with personal interviews of Smith himself. As if that weren't reason enough to go, the soundtrack includes previously unheard recordings. Twelve years since his death, Elliott's music sounds as fresh as ever. Join KEXP in a cinematic examination of a musician intrinsically connected with the North West music scene. Heaven Adores You is neither commendation nor condemnation — like Elliott Smith, it's just straight up and sincere.
