Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9th, KEXP leaves behind our old station at Dexter Avenue and Denny Way, moving into our New Home in Seattle Center. We asked our volunteer photographers to share some of their favorite shots of the old building. If a picture says a million words, then scroll through these photos to see the story of Dexter and Denny:

"I think one of my favorite things about shooting there was that it was so intimate and challenging. Finding places to shoot group photos when it was dark/raining outside or trying to situate a large group of people in a tiny space while trying to add in a video crew and photographer. You really learned to become familiar with every bit of space in that studio. I also learned a lot about interacting with bands instead of just photographing them on stage." -- Lori Paulson

The time I had a crazy idea and didn't have to twist arms at all to get JC Brooks and his fantastic band to imitate the Japanese trend of taking photos like Dragonball Z. They were SO much fun, I love when I connect with a band and they're totally up for anything when taking a portrait. -- Morgen Schuler

This was special because DJ Shannon and I share similar tastes in music, and I mentioned that I wished Lucy Rose was doing an in-studio...she said "hey, thanks for reminding me!" -- by the next day she had reached out to Jim, and the in-studio was happening! It was last second and really great for me, because her first albums were so intimate, and seeing her at the KEXP was a perfect place to hear her music. Also, she had a single called "Bikes" so her and Shannon by the bike/motorcycle had to be done. --Bebe Labree Besch

When Bryan John Appleby performed on [Tom Mara's] truck in the rain and cold for Bike to Work Day. While it's not my favorite shot, he's one of my favorite locals and stood on a truck cab to support KEXP. -- Morgen Schuler

Last weekend saw the return of Reykjavik Calling, the annual showcase featuring artists from sister cities Reykjavik and Seattle. Each year, KEXP curates the bill, selecting likeminded artists whose complementary styles might lead to fruitful collaboration. This year, we made our choices with a min…
