As a special incentive for music lovers elsewhere in the country, this year the state (excluding Washington, naturally) that donates the most before 6:00 p.m. this Friday will be honored with a special day of programming inspired by its music scene.

Closing out KEXP's 2016 Hood to Hood was Seattle's own Porter Ray, whose laidback flow at least kept things chill, y'know, musically. The wise-beyond-his-twenty-something-years rapper brought some romantic rhymes to the stage, combining some old-school R&B vibes to his hip hop sounds.
Where did all these people come from?! We ain't gonna front: it's freakin' hot out here at KEXP's 2016 Hood to Hood broadcast from the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. But as local trio Acapulco Lips took the stage, the crowd came emerging from the shadows.
